It’s official. My tongue needs a special day. Out of all the senses, taste is the one we must choose to employ.
As far as our sensual capabilities, taste is one often neglected. How often do we ingest something purely to savor the sensations? Pleasing the taste buds can bring simple moments of delight.
I declare the second day of each month to be a “spoil my taste buds” day. Current focus of taste day is going to be Haagen Dazs ice cream. I’m rendered speechless every time I indulge in this brand of ice cream. It feels like a luxury…it is a luxury, I suppose. And my tongue deserves it!
For the first “Taste Day” on August 2, I opened an impulsively purchased carton of Haagen Dazs Coffee Chocolate Brownie ice cream. The carton enticed me with “Our classic coffee ice cream is swirled with gooey brownies, rich espresso chocolate sauce and delicious espresso chocolate chips…”
The first taste melted me. A rich chocolate, chased with a creamy latte finish and then a surprise pop of extra espresso. The flavors are so potent and readily discerned and recognized by the taste buds. I turned off everything and just enjoyed the flavor for 20 minutes.
Which flavor shall I try in September?! My taste buds will be anticipating the next sensual focus day.
