Void Rock — Day 1

I put a rock in my pocket today.

That sentence feels like it should lead to something more meaningful, but it doesn’t.

It’s glittery. Not in a mystical way. Just… a little shimmer when the light hits it right. Like it accidentally ended up more interesting than it meant to be.

I kept reaching for it without thinking.

During a meeting that could have been an email, I rolled it between my fingers like I was trying to remember something important. Not about the meeting. Just… something.

At one point I pressed it into my palm and then against my wrist. It was cool at first, then warm. I don’t know why, but that felt better than anything anyone was saying out loud.

There’s something mildly ridiculous about carrying a rock around like it’s doing something.

And yet.

It kind of is.

Or I am.

Same difference, I think.

One rock. One moment. No conclusions.
